Be brave today

Being brave does not mean having no fear. It means doing the thing that needs to be done even when we are nervous about it.

Few things make people more nervous than a procedure on the face. A cyst on the chin or jaw is visible to everyone, and treating it can feel scary.

These cysts often start deep under the skin, close to the jawline, where blocked oil glands and hair follicles are common.

Over time they can grow into a firm, red lump that is painful to touch and sometimes makes it uncomfortable to chew or turn the head.

In the clinic the first step is a small injection of local anaesthetic. It stings for a few seconds, and then the area becomes completely numb.
