Age is just a number, and it is never too late to take good care of your skin. Paying attention to small changes keeps us healthy.
This photo shows an older woman with a swollen, red lump on her forearm just above the wrist, with a small crusted head on top.
It is most likely an inflamed cyst. These form when a pore or hair follicle gets blocked and a small sac under the skin fills with keratin.
Lumps near the wrist can also be other things, such as ganglion cysts that grow from a joint or tendon, which is why a check-up matters.
As we get older the skin becomes thinner, so a cyst can look larger and redder and may feel sore when the wrist moves or rests on a table.
