Be patient with yourself

A doctor may first open and drain the cyst to release the pus and pressure, giving the skin a chance to calm down.

Once the swelling goes down, usually after a few weeks, the remaining sac can be removed so the problem does not return.

During this time, regular dressing changes and keeping the area dry help the skin heal from the inside out.

It can feel slow, but each day the redness fades a little more and the pain becomes easier to live with.
