Start fresh today

Every day is a chance to start fresh. It does not matter how long a problem has been around; today can be the day we finally deal with it.

A lump on the back of the shoulder is something many women and men live with for years, often hiding it under clothes and hoping it will shrink.

Most of these lumps are epidermoid cysts. They form around a blocked follicle and fill with keratin, the same protein found in skin and hair.

As the cyst grows, the skin over it stretches and may turn pink or red, especially if it becomes irritated by bra straps, bag straps or tight tops.

When a cyst gets inflamed, it can become painful very quickly. Warm compresses can ease the discomfort, but they do not remove the cyst.
