Sometimes we just know that something is not right. Trusting that feeling and acting on it can make a big difference.
A swelling behind the ear is a good example. It may start as a small, tender bump that is easy to hide under the hair.
Over a few days or weeks it can grow into a round, red and painful lump that makes it uncomfortable to lie on that side.
The skin behind the ear has many oil glands and hair follicles, so blocked pores and small cysts are fairly common there.
When a cyst like this becomes inflamed, it can swell quickly and develop a yellow or white head where the pressure is building.
