It is never too late to take care of something that has been bothering you. Many people wait for years, then wonder why they did not act sooner.
A lump on the cheek is a common example. It may start as a small, painless bump that slowly grows larger with each passing month.
Most lumps like this are cysts. They form when a pore or follicle becomes blocked deep in the skin and keratin builds up inside a small sac.
Over time the cyst can become red and swollen, and a dark or yellow point may appear on top where it is close to the surface.
Because it sits on the face, it is tempting to squeeze it, but that can spread the infection and leave a scar in a very visible place.
